International Thanksgiving Feast

This year we decided to do away with gringo-traditions and make an international Thanksgiving feast.

Inspired by our extremely internationally diverse crowd at the moment.  And also because we will be hosting a harvest dinner in a week that will have the more traditional fare.

Our current crowd includes people from Mexico, USA, Canada, England, Germany, France and Italy – wow!  Our feast featured foods from Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, Mexico and USA.

From the United States: Ants on a log (celery stuffed with homeground peanut butter and topped with raisans – yup.)
Agua de jamaica (cold hibiscus tea with honey) from Mexico.
Sauerkraut from Germany (fermented for a week!).
Gazpacho from Spain.
Vegetarian sushi rolls from Japan.
And from Italy: homemade gnocchi with a simple tomato sauce.

We give thanks to the forest and the wonderful people!  Happy Thanksgiving from the Bosque!

Pro cibo inter esurientes, pro comitate inter desolatos, pro pace inter bellantes, gratias agimus.
For food in a hungry world, for companionship in a world of loneliness, for peace in an age of violence, we give thanks.
