We are currently seeking new residents to be a part of our growing community! We are working towards a future where San Galileo is a small town.
The current options for living with us include:
- Renting. We have cabañas and huts ready to rent for new residents. Ideally you are either retired or are able to telecommute. Our rental options are rustic but comfortable.
- Buying land and building. We are portioning off a small amount of the Bosque for buyers interested in joining us. Our shared values include a commitment to staying off the grid with solar panels and rain collection. Ideally you are either retired or able to telecommute.
- Becoming a neighbor. There are properties and houses near the Bosque which are available for rent or purchase. This area is full of interesting people and is becoming a large community of environmentally-minded folks!
- Long-term volunteering. Occasionally we have positions available for volunteers who can commit to a 6+ month period of time. Optimal candidates have skills we need (such as video editing or teaching), have a self-motivated working attitude, and are driven to help the Bosque system succeed. Requirements: Conversational Spanish is necessary. Ideally you are over 25 years old, though exceptions can be made for the right person. Send us a proposal, resume, and photo if you are interested.
If you are interested in starting the discussion about joining San Galileo or moving to the Lake Pátzcuaro area. The best way to get involved in the San Galileo community is to visit the Bosque as a long term guest to see how you like the area, the forest, and the people.
Please note that if you are coming from a large city and are interested in employment, you may want to reconsider moving your life to rural Mexico. Though we wish we could, we do not currently offer any employment opportunities.
