Packing List

Please Don't Bring:

  • cigarettes. The Bosque Village has a no smoking policy. Smokers are asked to walk up to a kilometer to smoke off the property -- if you are a heavy smoker, you may not want to attend this workshop.
  • animals: dogs/cats/pets. There are dogs and cats on the property already.
  • hair dryers. We have limited electricity. We'd have to fire up a generator if you wanted to dry your hair. Luckily, at the Bosque, there is a policy of acceptance! We will accept you as a great person even if your hair is unruly.

Please Bring!:

  • A warm sleeping bag or blankets. The nights get chilly here at The Bosque!
  • Rain jacket
  • Headlamps are highly recommended.  You must bring some form of light, be that a flashlight or headlamp.   We really like LED headlamps - you can get them for pretty cheap at some camping stores. Stores like REI sell them for a lot of money, but maybe they are more durable?  Make sure you bring batteries.
  • It is warm here during the day and chilly at night, so bring layers of clothing. Optional but recommended: warm hat.
  • Toiletries.  We provide toilet paper.  Anything else you'll need is up to you:  toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, etc.
  • Towels for showering. We have clothesline available.
  • Medication you might want.
  • Sunscreen and sun protection.  Sunglasses.
  • Water-bottle.  We provide bottled drinking water for you, but you'll have to have your own water-bottle.
  • Optional: thermos for hot tea and other hot beverages.
  • If you have a digital camera, bring it!
  • A notebook and pens.
  • Pictures of your past natural building work, or books/movies that you like about natural building (inquire first, we might own them). We'll share a lot of information during the two weeks we spend together!
  • Detergent for handwashing clothes. If you prefer, we will bring loads of clothes to town in the middle of the workshop, but will charge you what the business charges us for this service. It is fairly inexpensive.

For working:

  • Appropriate clothing. We are at a high altitude, so while it gets warm during the day, you may want long sleeves and pants and a brimmed hat for working to protect your skin.
  • Layers. It is chilly in the morning and warm in the afternoon, so bring layers so you are comfortable working.
  • Gloves.
  • Appropriate footwear. Tennis shoes are fine, boots are great!
  • Whatever tools you like of your own - your hammer, tape measurer, tool belt, etc. We'll have some tools available to lend out.
