Visit the Bosque Village for La Semilla in October!
Between October 10 and November 3, we invite you to participate in La Semilla (the seed, in Spanish), a gathering of minds. Participants at La Semilla will be camping in the forest. The minimum stay is 4 nights; we encourage participants to stay as long as possible to contribute to the vibe of the event.
October is an amazing month in the highlands of Michoacán, and ideal for camping at the Bosque. This October we are bringing together many talented and creative individuals from around the world to help create an exciting atmosphere in which we will all learn, contribute, and thrive.
Our mission is to create a space for personal and community growth and learning, where we can come together and make a better world for all in attendance.
Join us for workshops, classes, parties, dances, and campfires!
How to understand La Semilla:
This event is not a party or a rave. It is a gathering of creative, artistic, intelligent people who share their thoughts and skills and create La Semilla as the month progresses.
It is difficult to understand the nature of La Semilla; indeed, most of us won't understand the nature of it until the event is over and done.

When to come:
Come for as much of the month as possible! There is so much to do at the Bosque, and you'll enjoy watching the vibe change and develop as the month progresses.
The beginning will be interesting, as people meet and start creating classes and activities. Various new folks will filter in and contribute their participation and leadership. Weekends will be more active as people from Mexico can get away from their work for awhile to participate.
Towards the end of the month we will work on an ofrenda for Day of the Dead, a traditional holiday that is celebrated in this area of Mexico.
Come when you can! Contribute! Participate! Enjoy!
What to bring:
- Bring your awesome self.
- Your camping gear
- The most common items people forget are flashlights or a headlamp and warm clothing. It gets cold and dark at night!
- If you want to lead a class, workshop, or activity, bring the supplies you'll need.
- Check out the packing list to make sure you'll be prepared.
How to apply:
Please apply using the Bosque visitor application. Remember that October is a camping month; the cabanas will not be available!
If you don't have a tent, try to borrow one from a friend. We have a couple of tents that we can rent out; indicate in your application if you need this.
Cost:
Cost for camping in the Bosque is $150 pesos per night. In October we have a minimum of a 4 night stay. Remember that the cost includes three vegetarian meals per day and an amazing space to play. Your money will go towards providing the meals and helping this project grow.
Other stuff:
Read the Bosque website! Check out our photos, read our blog, follow us on twitter or with facebook. Don't forget that the Bosque is a no smoking forest. We'll be sending along more information in September to help you prepare. See you soon!
